Three hours, a beautiful venue, a talented photographer, gorgeous garments and yours truly. Those were the ingredients for my shoot, dressed in VADA’s recently launched, The Black Collection.
The Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town provided the perfect backdrop to capture this collection and all it represents: luxury, femininity and inner wellbeing. A HUGE thank you to Charnè Mingo from Colour + Studios who took some amazing shots. Click here to view the behind the scenes video.
VADA is the brainchild of the Sivada sisters, Bianca and Kamara, who in their twenties are role models in the fashion industry. Their label is designed to accentuate the curves of women, while making them feel confident and ready to conquer the world.
“The VADA vision is to allow her to embrace her inner Empress and Goddess as these symbolise powerful female beings which elevates and fortifies woman.”
For the shoot, Bianca and Kamara dressed me in the Monarch, Medusa and Julii crop top from The Black Collection which is part of the bigger Godly Collection, consisting of simple yet sensual designs. They explain that the collection’s signature colour palette of black, nude and gold detail represents the characteristics of power and divinity: “Black has been chosen because it trumps all, nude because it is the colour of beauty and gold because it is but godly…”
Elaborating on the decision to launch The Black Collection as part one of the Godly Collection, the sisters say: “VADA has realised that basics will always be a fundamental part of fashion, it is the foundation. No look can be completed without this, which is why we decided to launch our first basics collection focusing on the shape of the female form, strong yet solid colour palettes and essentially feminine cuts.”
For part two of the Godly Collection, the Sivada sisters are playing their cards close to their hearts except to say that the collection has ancient yet modernistic inspirations – think modern day Cleopatra.
