Extra Ordinary skincare – the search is over!

19 January 2015

Ordinary sample pack

And it’s official! After searching high and low I have FINALLY found a skincare range that makes my skin feel absolutely amazing! Yes folks that’s right, my search is over!

I discovered the Ordinary Cream Sample set in a Ruby Box which I ordered a month or two ago. I decided to give it a try last week and after removing my makeup I applied the Extra Ordinary Night Cream. I woke up the next morning and could not believe how soft my skin felt and how visibly even my skin tone looked. After one night?! Where have you been all my life Extra Ordinary Night Cream??

While getting ready to leave the house that morning, I applied the Extra Ordinary Day Cream SPF 30 before getting on with my makeup routine. What’s great about this cream is that aside from protecting your skin from the sun, it contains natural herb antioxidants Green Rooibos and Grapeseed oil.

According to their website, these products cater for those of us with dry skin but let me tell you, it has worked wonders on my combination skin which has a healthy glow and is softer than I can ever remember it being.

The Ordinary skincare products contain plant oils and extracts, none of their products are tested on animals and all packaging is recyclable. So not only can I look good, but I can feel good about looking good 😉

Included in the sample pack is the Plain Moisturising Balm which is safe for use on eczema/psoriasis and can be used as lip balm or a makeup primer; together with the Extra Ordinary Day Cream which is intended for daily use and also has powerful hydrating properties. Have I mentioned that the sample pack is just R50?

Ruby Box review: Festive Fab Box

9 January 2015

I was really looking forward to receiving my first Ruby Box for 2015 and when it arrived today I just couldn’t wait to peek inside. Needless to say I opened it up as soon as I got the chance and snapped a few pics so that I could share these finds with you!

This month I received the Festive Fab Box which contains a Bag of Beauty Secrets, Natural Lab SPF 30 face cream (10ml sample), a Festive Harvest candle, Piz Buin Lipbalm and an Emanuel Ungaro L’Amour Flowerpack EDT fragrance (1.5ml sample).

Let’s take a closer look at these products shall we 🙂

First up, I absolutely love the Bag of Beauty Secrets. It’s just the right size for your beauty essentials and can easily slip into your small sling bag which many of us will be rocking during the summer months; and I don’t know about you but you can’t have too many cosmetic pouches! You can purchase this from the Ruby Box shop for R59.95.

The Natural Lab SPF 30 face cream is made using only natural products, is suitable for everyday use and you can use this under your makeup too! This anti-oxidant rich product will set you back about R200 for a 50ml tube.

The Festive Harvest aromatherapy soy candle with cinnamon, naartjie and clove smells delish and can also be used as body balm and massage oil – once the wax/oil has cooled down of course. This will cost you R95.95.

Piz Buin has a range of sun protection and tanning products. I like the lipbalm because it keeps my lips hydrated for a long period of time and doesn’t leave any white residue like other sun protection lipbalms tend to. This product is R44.95.

The Emanuel Ungaro L’Amour Flowerpack EDT is officially my favourite fragrance this summer! It smells like a fresh bouquet of flowers and makes me want to rock those floral prints. If you like a sweet yet fresh fragrance this is the one for you. A 50ml bottle is priced at R849.95.

I absolutely loved this Ruby Box! I’m not sure if I can wait another month to receive my next one and may just order another before then… Either way I’ll be sure to share my take on the products with you.

Stay beautiful
